Back to School Stationery Box

Today I want to share a little present I made for my two youngest girls for starting school last week. They had left their old primary school and all their friends behind and were nervous about making new friends and fitting in so I thought I would make them a gift to help settle those first day nerves.

Now I don't know about your house, but in my house when it comes to homework time all the pencils, sharpeners and erasers all seem to magically disappear making homework stressful for everyone concerned. So when I saw these little stationery sets in my local supermarket, I thought they would be perfect for homework time.

I designed a box to hold everything neatly inside using Island Indigo and Melon Mambo cardstock and covered it with the co-ordinating Gingham Gardens Designer Series paper. I also covered the pencil sharpener in a little scrap of DSP.

The flower is from the Mixed Bunch set and was stamped in Melon Mambo and punched out with the matching punch. I wanted to add the girl's initials to each box so each girl could identify there own set and avoid any arguments over who owned what.

The sets were a big hit with both girls who enjoyed their first day and made lots of new friends, and are now looking forward to getting some homework so they can use their new supplies.
